Salty water can be very tricky since it can end up everywhere and specifically between two surfaces and create great damage when it cannot be rinsed up with water. The illustrated intake grate is a result of its damage. It was accumulated between the intake grate and pump where it is difficult to rinse it when you clean the boat after a short ride. In other words there are so many parts on a jet ski that have to be disassembled and clean up very often order to prevent their damage from salt water.
