A team of personal watercraft racers escaped from the salty waters of Greece and headed for the smooth water of Lake Ladona, which is situated in the center of Peloponissos. This particular lake has a length of 15km and covers an area of 6.000square miles. The team had two three seaters and two stand ups, and camped near by the village of Mouria. From there the team started the exploration of the natural beauty of the bays and the fiords of the lake. At an elevation of 400m the eight riders explored the whole lake and reached up to the point where the famous river Ladonas is situated. The view was magnificent and the experience unique for the eight riders (Vasilis, Efi, Akis, Penny, Themis, Georgia, Chris and Eugenia), who mentioned that they will be back to the Lake for a new adventure.The Studios Driades is found in the center of Stavrothromi village and accommodated the team. The successful exploration was organized by the www.jetskiworld.gr and the Champions Store.

Since 1999, the insurance of the personal watercrafts is compulsory under the law 2743/99. The insurance protects the owner in case of an accident towards the third parties. If the personal watercraft is upon a trailer, the owner should make sure that the trailer is also included to the insurance of the vehicle. The cost of an annual insurance policy varies from 80-150 euros or more, depending upon the details of its insurance package.

The Sea Style magazine, at the center of Marina Zeas in Pireaus, carried out the organization of the two-day event under the name “Child &Sea” successfully. Parents and children gathered in Marina Zeas on the last weekend of June in order to get familiar with the water sports. Under the supervision of their parents, the children had the opportunity to go sailing or a short trip with a powerboat and get to know the beauty of these sports. The minister of Mercantile Marine, Mr. K. Kefalogiannis emphasized that the YEN is primly concerned for the human life insurance in the sea and he announced a list of instructions, to inform the swimmers and drivers of powerboats in order to enhance the valuable information with the hope to minimize the accidents on the beaches. The headquarters of the Coast Guard Authorities of the YEN Department sent instructions pamphlets to every single Coast Guard Station in order to enhance the preliminary control to the powerboats and floating vessels. The instructions pamphlets also includes another set of documents were enclosed you will find valuable information about the safety of the swimmers, the fishing divers and the captains-drivers-professionals boat users. Additionally, these four documents provide particular advice according to the preliminary controls which will be carried out by the Coast Guard Authorities to the drivers-owners of the vessels as well as to the professional that rent such vessels during the summer season.

During the two day event (24th and 25th of June), that is organized by the magazine, Sea Style, with subject “Child and Sea 2006”, the personal water craft athlete, Vasilis Moraitis, will show up at Marina Zeas of Pireaus, in order to instruct the young athletes that are attracted to the sport of personal water craft. The crowd admission will be free during the schedule of 10:00am to 16:00pm. It is a great opportunity for the family and children, to get to know the sport of personal watercraft and its safety aspects by an expert.
