There is no doubt about the fact that Franky Zapata made a point to the GP Runabout class. He showed up with the fastest Runabout and was capable of riding it way out of its limit, showing the racers and the spectators that he is on top of the World, by creating the greatest difference between him and the second rider that has ever been at the World Finals. Though, luck of reliability restricted him to get the #1 place in the class. Still Zapata was the crowd’s favorite at the awards ceremony.

Undoubtedly, Franky Zapata was the man to beat in the GP Runabout class, since he made a strong impression with his specially made Sea Doo missile. On the other hand Dustin Farthing showed up on a borrowed race craft, rode smart, consistently and managed to clinch the world title in his class, putting a fine end to his retirement show. Last year Frenchman Lopez showed his real capabilities by winning two out of three motos in Pro Ski class and getting his first World Title. This year he came to World Finals as a privateer and made his first strong appearance in the GP Ski class where he won the title ahead of Mike Klippenstein. Lopez had a strong second moto leaving to chance the experienced Canadian to reach him.

A few years ago Nicolas Rius had won a world title in Pro Runabout after having a horrific accident with Dustin Farthing. Now, the two of them have a strong friendship and Christophe Girello is helping out Farthing in setting up the handling of the two Hydrospaces that he plans to race at the end of the week. This type of cooperation proves that both of them are great athletes and real sportsmen. The young French rider Julie Bulteau is one of the best European riders. Therefore, Rius Racing gave her the opportunity to test ride the carbon hull Yamaha Super Jet. Julie got excited by the massive acceleration as well as the braking of the carbon hull. Chief mechanic of Rius Racing, Cristophe Girello, will provide some technical support to the young rider in Pro Am women’s class.

Six days prior to the Pro Ski race one of the top European riders, Frenchman Michael Poret, rider for team JFC, rode the Rius Racing carbon hull Yamaha Super Jet. After completing a few laps on the practice circuit Poret mentioned that this particular Super Jet was the best handling Ski he had ever ridden. He was surprised by its amazing handling at corners and its sharp response in turning. Still he will race for the JFC Team at the World Finals in Pro Ski class.
